B.A. Pastoral Ministry

Department of Pastoral Ministry · 4 years · 53 courses · 100% online

About this programme

You are already preaching. Perhaps a congregation grew around you, or a branch was handed to you, and the demands arrived long before the preparation did. A sermon is due every week, families bring problems no sermon answers, the accounts need keeping, and there is often nobody senior to ask.

Every Berean degree shares a common core of Bible, doctrine, interpretation, church history, apologetics and ethics. This one is organised around three demands the pastoral office makes at once. The first is exegetical, reading a passage in context and building a sermon that says what the text says, tested in supervised preaching where your work is heard and criticised. The other two are pastoral and institutional: understanding people in trouble well enough to help them and to know your own limits, and running a congregation, with its people, money and records, honestly.

You will graduate able to handle a text and preach it, sit with a grieving family, chair a board meeting and keep straight accounts. Imagine next Sunday's preparation done with method behind it rather than pressure. The pulpit you already stand in is reason enough to be trained for it, and you can begin that training here.

53 courses across 8 semesters, about 4 years of study.

Who it is for

Pastors, church workers and first-time students who want a full undergraduate education in ministry. No previous theological training is assumed; the first year begins at the beginning.

What you will be able to do

Preach and teach responsibly, handle Scripture with care, lead a congregation or ministry, and continue to postgraduate study if you choose.

How you will study

Every course here runs the same way, so you always know where you are.

  • Six study modules a course, each with a handout you can read on screen or download.
  • Video and audio of the same teaching, for studying while you travel or work.
  • A short refresher quiz to open each course. It is not scored, and you may retake it.
  • Two tests along the way, then a final examination. The pass mark is 50%.
  • Results appear as soon as you submit.

Study is entirely online and at your own pace. Everything works on a phone, and handouts can be downloaded to read without data.

Entry requirements
